Meet The Doctors

  • Dr. Muoi Leong DDS

Dr. Muoi Leong grew up in Calgary and received her Bachelor Of Science Degree in Microbiology at the University of Calgary.  Looking to continue her education she then continued to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.  She graduated from the Dentistry program with Honours and moved back to Calgary as fast as she could (to cheer on the Flames and Stampeders, of course).  Dr. Leong has been practicing family dentistry in Calgary since 2002.

Dr. Leong is a certified Botox administrator and also a qualified Invisalign practitioner.  She is constantly updating her skills and spends a great deal of time discussing dentistry on the various dental forums.

A true believer in giving back to the community, Dr. Leong has volunteered in many organizations including being an executive board member of the Calgary District Dental Society, the CUPS Dental Clinic, her Community Association, and several local sporting clubs.  She is also a strong and long-term supporter of STARS and the Calgary Humane Society.

Aside from her 2 awesome children and husband, Dr. Leong's greatest love is food - cooking and eating are her favorite pastimes.  To balance this out she also enjoys hiking and working out on her stationary bike while watching Netflix.

  • Dr. Mark McCalder DDS

Dr. Mark McCalder grew up in Calgary and graduated from Vicount Bennett High School.  He studied dentistry at the University of Alberta and has been practicing family dentistry for over 30 years.

When Dr. McCalder isn't making your smile look its best, he enjoys golf, playing hockey, working out and learning to speak German.

Dr. McCalder and his wife Cathy have four daughters and one extremely cute grandson whom they love to spoil!

  • Dr. Benita Yan DDS

Let’s face it, Dentist Bios can be quite boring and who has the time to read all the nitty-gritty details about their Dentist anyway? I definitely have all the professional credentials to be your Dentist, which is available upon request, so let’s move onto some interesting facts about me.

My profile picture is from many years ago and is not the most accurate depiction of me now. Unfortunately, I have not found the fountain of youth and reverse aged myself. I simply have not had the opportunity to take a recent professional glamour shot because I am too busy chasing my active toddler around.

Away from work, one of my greatest passions is travel and experiencing world cultures, which I miss dearly because of the current global pandemic. I have travelled all over Europe, South America, Central America, Asia and Africa. My most rewarding experience thus far has been providing dental care to the less fortunate in Guatemala. The bravest yet most tiring trip would be when we lugged our 5-month-old baby around in Iceland and Ireland.

My second passion is music and the arts. Having studied piano performance and Speech Arts & Drama since the age of six, I enjoy playing the piano for leisure and attending theatre performances. What is Speech Arts & Drama, you may ask? It's a discipline that encompasses public speaking, improvisation, story telling, and  performance of poetry, prose and drama. If you would like me to recite a Shakespearean sonnet, please give me time to brush up as “momming” and part-time dentistry has taken over my life.
